Handmade sterling silver flower rings. Completely recycled from 140 year old dessert for handles!

I am standing here again thinking i better go to bed rather than do this! But i thought it would be nice to post this photo of the rings I've been working on all evening. Freshly chopped from gorgeous sterling silver antique fork handles (140 years old!) These two forks were given to me at the art and craft mkt in Cambridge on Saturday. All the lovely person wanted in return was a photo of what they were turned into ! I am really pleased with these rings and i will definitely be creating a small range / collection. I shall offer these for sale at the market next Saturday and if i get a chance i will pop the on to the website. Each ring will be priced at £68. Obviously i will create any size requested. The remaining prongs from these forks will be turned into lovely earrings as a thank you to the kind customer you donated the forks. The forks themselves would have been worth a great deal of money if they were part of their original set. As individual forks they are undervalued and relatively unwanted by antiques dealers and collectors. This makes them the perfect raw material for me!
I will try to include a quick pic of the earrings. Oh, and i have been busy knocking up another website dedicated to the birth spoons and Christening spoons i create. Please visit it if you get a chance, its a little boring compared to my Hairy Growler website :[ well see what youse think!

Recycled silver Mermaid pendants and earrings...

Well its Sunday and i am in the womb of my workshop. Its a bit windy out there so hold tight! I had a excellent day at the market yesterday which is good. In fact, it was so good that i had to get straight in the workshop when i returned and get creative. I have made a couple of nice things this morning. I have been working on these designs since returning from a break at me mam and nana's in Newcastle! The good old Northumberland coast line, check it out http://www.photographer-northeast.co.uk/landscapes.html Anyhoo, i started designing some gorgeous mermaid designs. The one above i started on last night and finished this afternoon. I have used a 1896 sterling silver half crown coin given to me by a lovely lady who visited me at the market (thank you Annie!). I have hammered, stretched, heated, annealed, pierced, drilled, filed and satin polished the coin in to this mermaid form. What do you think? I think i will take it to the All saints market http://www.cambridge-art-craft.co.uk/ tomorrow and see if anyone would like it! Well i will continue working and finish the lovely mermaid earrings i am working on ..... Please check out these new recycled creations very soon.. And if not really soon, definitely in January. If anyone wants one NOW!!!!! just drop me an email or comment on blog. Its no problem and always a pleasure!
